Our Accommodations

Travelling and exploring the great outdoors is even more enjoyable when you have a comfortable, log or timber frame pine cabin to return to each evening. One with a cheery woodstove, hot shower or bath, fully equipped kitchen and electricity.

Our various packages take you to several different locations. While each is a bit different, our commitment to quality is the same. Our standards policy comes from our grandmother, Ellen Hanson, who always stressed "never put your guests in something you would not live in yourself." We are all very choosy about where we live.

Hideaway Lodge is our "drive-in" location just off Highway 71. This is our year round headquarters on the shores of scenic Kakagi Lake, just 5 minutes north of the small town of Nestor Falls. Six fully modern lakeside cottages, with three and four piece bath, satellite TV and full kitchens offer a relaxing "home away from home". Bed and breakfast packages and coupons from local restaurants (10 minutes away), as well as a great central location make this a very convenient base camp to explore our area from.

By car, KayNayChiWahNung (40 minutes south), Nestor Falls Hiking Trails (5 – 10 minutes south), Lake of the Woods (5 minutes), Sioux Narrows Provincial Park ( 30 minutes north), Caliper Lake Provincial Park (10 minutes south), White Moose Golf Course (35 minutes north), Nestor Falls Tennis Courts (10 minutes south), Gift Shops and shopping (10 – 60 minutes away), Museums (60 minutes north) and Area First Nation Communities (5 – 45 minutes) are all highlights to see.

Kakagi Lake itself is a true regional treasure. Crystal clear spring water is its main source. Shear granite walls towering up to three hundred feet above lake level and the white redpine forest around the lake make it a must to explore.

King Island Lodge is our "boat-in" location 13 miles out on Lake of the Woods. Its 80 year old log cabins and main dining room are all lovingly restored right down to the maple foors. Four frame knotty pine cabins are also on the 8 acre Island. Two to four bedroom cabins with 3 or 4 piece bathrooms, kitchens, decks and sitting areas. The licensed lounge has a satellite TV and library. Nature is all around you at King Island.

Our fly-in cabins are all situated on remote lake systems 55 to 265 km from Kakagi Lake. All are similar in that they are the only cabin on each particular lake system. Each is fully equipped with radio satellite phone communications, hot and cold running water/showers, solar electric power for lights and refrigeration and are fully finished knotty pine and log interior for your total comfort. Efficient cast wood stoves provide heat and fully covered decks often give great opportunities to enjoy an outdoor meal and have Mother Nature’s creatures swim, walk or fly by at any moment. A good supply of boats, canoes or kayaks is at each location and as we use each area for slightly different nature and wildlife viewing the equipment may vary slightly
